Calculate ovulation and fertile days
Ovulation is the phase in a woman's menstrual cycle where a mature egg is released from the ovary, travels down the fallopian tube, and becomes available for fertilization. It typically occurs once a month, about 14 days before the next period begins.
A woman is most fertile during the 'fertile window,' which includes the day of ovulation and the 5 days leading up to it. Sperm can live inside the female reproductive tract for up to 5 days, while the released egg lives for about 12 to 24 hours, making the total fertile window about 6 days long.
Ovulation is calculated based on the length of your menstrual cycle. If your cycle is a standard 28 days, ovulation usually occurs on day 14 (counting the first day of your period as day 1). If your cycle is 30 days, ovulation occurs around day 16.
