Calculate your carbon footprint
A carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gases (including carbon dioxide and methane) emitted into the atmosphere as a result of individual, organization, or product activities, expressed in metric tons of CO2 equivalent (tCO2e).
The main contributors are transportation (driving cars, flying), home energy consumption (electricity, heating, air conditioning), diet (especially meat and dairy consumption), and waste management (landfill decay).
You can reduce your carbon footprint by using public transit or electric vehicles, insulating your home, using energy-efficient appliances (LEDs, smart thermostats), reducing meat consumption, recycling, and purchasing carbon offsets.
