Analyze blood pressure readings
Blood pressure is measured in millimeters of mercury (mmHg) and consists of two numbers: Systolic (the top number, which measures the pressure in your arteries when your heart beats) and Diastolic (the bottom number, which measures the pressure in your arteries between beats).
For adults, a normal blood pressure reading is typically less than 120/80 mmHg (systolic under 120 and diastolic under 80). Readings consistently above this range may indicate Elevated blood pressure, Stage 1 Hypertension, or Stage 2 Hypertension.
Hypertension is the medical term for high blood pressure. It is often called the 'silent killer' because it usually has no visible symptoms, but consistently high pressure damages arteries and increases the risk of heart attack, stroke, kidney disease, and dementia.
