Calculate blood alcohol content
Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) is a metric used to measure the percentage of alcohol in a person's bloodstream. For example, a BAC of 0.08% means there is 0.08 grams of alcohol for every 100 milliliters of blood.
In the United States, England, and many other countries, the legal BAC limit for driving under the influence (DUI) is 0.08% for non-commercial drivers aged 21 or older. In many European countries and parts of Australia, the limit is lower at 0.05%.
On average, the human body metabolizes alcohol at a rate of about 0.015% BAC per hour. This means it takes about one hour to clear one standard drink (like a 12 oz beer, 5 oz wine, or 1.5 oz shot of liquor) from your system. Drinking water, sleeping, or drinking coffee does not speed up this metabolic process.
