Calculate attendance percentage
Attendance % = (Classes Attended ÷ Total Classes) × 100. If you attended 72 out of 80 classes: (72 ÷ 80) × 100 = 90% attendance.
Most institutions require 75% minimum attendance to sit for exams. Some require 80% or have separate requirements for lectures and practicals. Check your institution's specific policy.
You can miss 25% of total classes. For 100 total classes, you can miss 25. Formula: Maximum absences = Total classes × (1 - Required %). Plan your absences early in the semester.
Classes needed = (Required% × Total Classes - Current Attendance) ÷ (1 - Required%). If you have 60% with 50 classes and need 75%, you need more classes to be added.
In some courses, attendance is part of the grade (typically 5-10%). More importantly, poor attendance correlates with lower exam scores. Students with high attendance typically perform better.
